Our Staycation at The Independence Hotel in Oregon
Matthew and I were generously gifted two luxurious nights at The Independence Hotel in Independence, Oregon! If you enjoy wine tasting, hiking, kayaking, biking, or eating your way through vacations, this place is for you!
We are so thankful to live right outside the Willamette Valley that is full of charming small towns, where wineries are abundant! Although we travel locally often, we had never ventured down to the wineries surrounding Independence, and we are so glad we did! The Van Duzer Corridor AVA has 6 wineries within minutes of the hotel, and many more to explore in the Eola-Amity Hills.
The Independence Hotel sits above the Willamette River, where some hotel rooms have private balconies looking over the river, park, and walking trails. Rain or shine, the Territory restaurant has an atrium for dining guests right on the river which features quality, local, and delicious PNW cuisine.
If you need a day of exploring, the Willamette River has kayak rentals in the spring and summer for exploring on the water. Hiking trails will be at peak bloom in summer and fall! Starting in spring 2022, The Independence Hotel will be opening their rooftop bar, where local food carts and wineries will be available for you to sit around the fire and watch the sunset.
Matthew and I were talking about bringing the boys here soon as well! There is a beautiful park right outside the hotel, which also is where the local Farmers Market takes place in the summer. The Gilbert House Children’s Museum is close by, along with college campuses to explore and take in a sporting event.
If you have a group of friends wanting to explore the Willamette Valley, you must stay in the Bunk Room and invite me! I’m just kidding, but check out the pictures on their website of this luxurious room!
